This is one of my biggest paintings, at 4 ft by 2 ft. It had to be, to do it justice. This was the coldest of winter's days, the air catching in my throat. The Torii gate's fiery hue just enhanced the beauty of Fujisan, sparkling in all their winter glory. The sky was impossibly cerulean. Fujisan reminds us that we can take nothing for granted. They are a volcano, and beneath their captivating exterior rumbles the core of the planet we call home. Americans are used to such vagaries of the weather, but this particular one certainly impressed even seasoned residents with its vigour! Venturing out in the afternoon of the following day, I was impressed at the way New Yorkers pulled together and doggedly cleared sidewalks and got on with life.
